College Football Week 2 Picks

Week 2 of the college football season is fast approaching and after our 8 week run-out we will likely be just two weeks away from the Saturday Night Game of the Year as there still remains only 53 players. With everyone now counting down to the NCCAA’s New Year’s Day Bowl, it’s tough to find confidence in any predictions. However, slot deposit 20 bonus 30 let’s prove out handicapping the game with some Week 2 Best Bets.

Boston College (-5.5) VS. VIRGINIA TECH (-6)

This is probably the easiest bet to evaluate. Boston College Football is obviously a much better team than Virginia Tech as they have the league’s best defense and a dominating forward in Andre Stewart. Hokies RB Wouldn’t Brown if it helped his team any however, and neither does Virginia Tech have a RB of Stewart’s ability. Virginia Tech’s best wide receiver, JJ Hilton, is a sophomore slump after a breakout season at Santana Moss (6 catches, 11 TDs), but he is still the receiving base of this team. He needs a breakout game from Marcus Vick to overtake Hilton as the leader of this team.

While Boston College Football has a much more manageable schedule as they only have to face North Carolina, a visit from Florida St. and a road trip from Georgia, the matchup with the Hokies will be their toughest test of the season. Boston College has owned the Hokies in their only matchup and these 2 surprising teams couldn’t come through in a big way last year, as the Terps easily handled them here in College Park. Boston College has won their last three games by 17, 19 and 21 points so they know they can win here, but they need Vick to outscore them. Virginia Tech is coming off a bye after an easy 16-10 victory over Florida St. and given a break after their offensive weren’t as sharp as against Georgia, and injuries are at the forefront in Tech’s play of late.

NC State (-7) VS. Duke: These are the two best teams in the conference and the Wolfpack played the serviceable Blue Devils very well in their last meeting, which ended with NC State jumping out to a 25-10 victory. Duke has struggled since their above average showing in the ACC Championship and they are certainly capable of a better effort here after a tough loss to Vanderbilt. This is the second game of their “home to home” series which is concerning for both teams as they are at home in the Dean Dome which has proven to be an extremely tough place to play, even against the nation’s bottom two teams.

Both teams are also without their starting QBs who are healthy and just as important, both QBs have returned after missing the Louisville and LSU games. That means we really do not know what these QBs are capable of doing in this one. We do know one thing and that is that neither QB will want it more than the other.

of the 1st round games are all taking place in week 2 this week and I do expect that NC State will be easier to cover than Duke due to their Virgina Tech rematch on Friday night. As for the other games of the 2nd round, I do expect Maryland to lose badly to Indiana, they were YouTube material in the days leading up to this game. Also Indiana looks to be better than they were in their most recent road game and I definitely expect them to catch Michigan St. on Monday night.

in the Big 12, Colorado is theeltic Bowl favorite with a 21-10 record and they looked promising in doing the impossible in the Fiesta Bowl last January. Now they will have to cheer on their alma mater in the Champs Sports Bowl on New Year’s Day.

Dickett and Smart have stepped up their game in recent weeks and so has Nebraska as Mike Riley has a new look in the Bowl season. 5 top seeded teams are in this year’s BCS chase and all 5 have great chances to be here in New Orleans for the title game. Besides Texas already in the title game, depends how State and Missouri respond in their huge road games against Colorado and Missouri. You will have to pay dearly to find out if Iowa St. is back in the title game or not if they beat Nebraska handily last year.
